Donela; a dream come true

Our dream of a school to provide quality and affordable formal education to the children of Bombo came to pass, when we opened Donela Orange Nursery and Primary School on February 15th 2008 with 7 (seven) pupils. As we close the year, Donela has 50 pupils.
Serving among the community of Bombo, the plight of the children has become a burden we carry in our hearts everyday.
Formal education is a basic necessity for every child. Most of the children of our community attend government schools, which are free but extremely ill equipped and over crowded making it difficult for children to learn well. For this reason, people who can afford to do so take their children to private schools where better education is offered. This leaves the children of the poor disadvantaged. Because of the poor education they receive, they are not able to compete favorably for the scarce resources and opportunities. They are literally condemned to a low social class.
The actualization of our dream to offer affordable faith-based and quality education with the aim of raising children who can positively impact our community and their generation to come has been our greatest joy. Donela is our contribution towards meeting the community’s dire need for a worthwhile education that makes a difference. Our one year of service has proven so.
It is also our joy to see all the children from families that are being looked after by Life With Hope (LWH) ministry who are nursery school age receiving their education from Donela, This gives us the privilege of providing them with at least 2 good meals a day during school days. It also gives us the opportunity to contribute towords shaping their future as they spend more time with us. We have seen a marked improvement in the health and behavior of the LWH children (five in number) who are at Donela.

Donela expands to the primary section (beginning with primary one and two) at the beginning of next year. Please pray with us as we recruit more teachers and expand our structures to accommodate the development.
Align ministry with the help of an architect called Art May from the USA have come up with a grand plan for class room blocks for Donela and are doing are raising funds for the same. Please feel free to contact Align Ministries for further information on this venture.
